Major Erastus Everson who lived here the past winter has mysteriously disappeared. He was last seen in Boston on March 11and it is feared that he was lost in the great storm on March 12. He served with distinction in the army and at one time was the State Librarian of South Carolina. Coming north he entered the service of the New York Times and later was identified with other news papers.
** I don’t know if the “who lived here the past winter” phrase was simply from the original Plymouth notification (therefore meaning he lived in Plymouth the past winter) or was a reference for their readers of The Constitution who may have known him (therefore indicating he had lived in Atlanta the past winter which would contradict the Plymouth copy). Also, we was the Librarian for the University of South Carolina at Columbia - not the State Librarian (an altogether different position) **
a very similar notice was listed in a Newark Ohio newspaper as well.
