Francis N. Everson, son of Richard and Mercy Everson (misspelled as "Francis W." in the article) married Abby Brown of Abington 27 February 1859. The marriage didn't last long, considering that by June 1859 she had left him for his "ill treatment" and went to live with her brother in Abington. According to this article, however, he was determined to get her back, broke into the house and attempted to drug her, but she awoke, screaming, and he fled, but was soon captured and arrested. He then attempted to break out of the prison cell, but got stuck in the hole he created and almost died from the pressure on his abdomen. He eventually paid bail of $1000 and was released-(must have then moved to NY as he turned up as a sergeant with 5th NY Regt)
